Syls has seen a very strong increase in participation rates over the last 3 years.
Club membership has grown 50% since 2018 to 4,000+, with especially strong growth in the Juvenile and Ladies/Girls sections.
We have had strong success on the field, with our Mens’ and Ladies’ sections achieving league and intercounty success.
This positive exposure has spurred tremendous interest and support for our Club.
Our Club is debt free and the Broomfield Development plan will not incur any borrowings.
Phase I of the development was delivered in 2020, with the completion of the Broomfield All Weather Pitch.
The first stage of Phase II was completed in early 2024. This involved the development of an All Weather training facility focused on accommodating juvenile games and training. This facility has helped to free up grass pitches for older age groups.
The next stage of Phase II involves construction of new toilets, male and female changing rooms and a gym facility at the Broomfield campus. This will occur in parallel with construction and lighting of new adult and juvenile pitches to be developed in conjunction with Fingal County Council.
This development is expected to commence in early 2025 and be completed by 2026.
The upgraded infrastructure at Broomfield is intended to benefit the wider Malahide community including our local schools and community groups.
Winter training space is very constrained across all age groups. Pitch space is at a premium with lit All Weather surfaces in high demand.
Older groups have an increased number of training sessions as they progress through competitions. Juvenile male and female squads have grown in size, with many squads now exceeding 80 players. Girls and Boys Academy membership is approaching 450 children.
Expanded Broomfield facilities will allow all teams increased access to appropriate facilities and opportunity to train.
Planning permission has been obtained for new facilities incorporating the new gym and separate male and female changing facilities.

In 2023 / 24 we succeed in raising €750,000 to initiate Phase II of the development.
We are new targeting a fundraise of a further €750,000 to complete the project. We need your help to build the future of Sylvesters...
Phase 1 involved the floodlighting of Pitch 1 and the development of a floodlit All Weather Pitch at Broomfield. The pitch has made a huge difference to the number of teams that can train in the winter months allowing broader participation for players at all levels and across both codes of the sport.
The objective of Phase 2 is to expand our existing facilities to cater for the very strong growth of Gaelic Games in Malahide, improve the quality of facilities for our local schools, juvenile and senior players, and build extra pitch capacity to meet the continued strong growth in Club membership.
This involves the expansion of the training area with the development of an All Weather training facility adjacent to the All Weather Pitch and lighting of new adult and juvenile pitches to be developed in conjunction with Fingal County Council. The Club has also obtained planning permission for new changing rooms with separate male and female facilities.
Our ‘One Club’ initiative focused on broad inclusion and participation in sport has been highly successful.
The scope of activities supported by the Club spans from intercounty and senior players though to juvenile teams at all levels, teams for children with additional needs, social teams including Gaelic for Mothers and Others and a Golf Society.
The Club is committed to inclusion and participation for everyone.
